Cela signifie qu'aucune autre chose ne peut occuper le même
espace/temps ou posséder cette chose. EX : Deux
gouttes d'eau qui tombent sont des événements
uniques puisque elles tombent une à la suite de l'autre, donc, si
elles occupent bien un même espace, cet espace n'est jamais occupé
au même moment par les deux gouttes. Ces deux événements peuvent
devenir un fait si on remarque qu'elle tombe sur la tête d'un
individu, et un fait historique si cet individu est un prisonnier
de guerre que l'on torture pour lui extirper des informations.
Même s'il s'agit d'événements uniques, on utilise le même mot -
goutte d'eau - pour les désigner. Pour certains auteurs, ces
événements ne sont pas uniques, mais identiques. Cela signifie
qu'il s'agit de deux exemplaires (token) du même événement, qui ne
fait que se reproduire, dans ce cas à l'infini. On utilise alors
le mot phénomène - la
formation de gouttes d'eau - pour désigner deux événements ou plus
qui sont identiques.
